“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.”
― Ernest Hemingway

In the early summer of 2012 I received a letter. Both scary and exciting, this letter welcomed me to a new chapter in my life. The Educational Technology and Design program at the University of Saskatchewan had accepted my application and I was to be a Masters of Education student.
September soon arrived and, with it, great changes. A new job, a new baby, and a M.Ed. program. On the verge of quitting before I even began, I trepidatiously became of part of a small and genuinely welcoming community. So began a journey that spanned two and a half years and included many lessons, both personal and professional, that have altered who I am as both an educator and a human.
This portfolio outlines the the growth I've experienced throughout this journey. The route outlined above has brought me to this point in the program, the point of reflection on two-and-a-half challenging, powerful (and only occasionally stressful) years of learning.
In beginning this process of reflection, I have come to realize that the collection of courses that compose this route are much more than individual lessons on specific topics. Throughout the years a theme began to emerge from the material, a theme that has profoundly changed my approach to education and has led to many new and exciting opportunities that serve to continue the route of learning that, I now believe, has only just begun.
What is that theme? Design Thinking.
I have learned, without a doubt, that it is all about design.
